The Houston Dynamo have been defeated by the New York Red Bulls by a score of 2-1. This is the teams first defeat at home since August 7, 2023, where they fell to Charlotte FC in Leagues Cup.

The Dynamo began the match rapidly where in the 7th minute, Coco Carrasquilla would lob a dime of a pass that would set up Ibrahim Aliyu for a 0ne-on-one. Aliyu did not hesitate under the pressure as he would slide it past the keeper to open up the score. The Red Bulls would respond throughout the half and earn set pieces. Emil Forsberg nearly tied the match off a free kick, but his shot hit the crossbar in the 22nd minute. After a few stoppages due to injuries, the Dynamo began to pressure the Red Bulls. Steve Clark would be issued a Yellow Card in the 36th minute of play and in the 43rd minute nearly saved a header, but Elias Manoel’s shot had enough power to find the back of the net and equalize the match.  Referee Lorenzo Hernandez added 8 minutes of stoppage time and the match entered the half tied 1 all.

To begin the Second Half, Jan Gregus and Franco Escobar came on for Brooklyn Raines and Tate Schmitt.

The match was even until Lewis Morgan capitalized on an Artur mistake in the 59th minute to give his side the lead. The Dynamo would have a huge chance in the box to tie the match three minutes later after Sebastian Kowalczyk's shot would hit the post, Segal would then get the rebound at his feet, but the shot would just miss the goal. Shortly after, a scuffle broke out and Griffin Dorsey was issued a Yellow Card. Ben Olsen then brought on Amine Bassi and Brad Smith for Segal and Sebastian Kowalczyk in the 68th minute. Aliyu would be issued a Yellow Card in the 74th minute. The Dynamo kept pushing for an equalizer and nearly had one but Carlos Miguel made a huge save off a Dorsey header. 8 minutes were once again added but the Dynamo were unable to tie the match.

The Men in Orange will now face Columbus Crew where they'll host the first leg of the Round of 16 in the Concacaf Champions Cup on March 6, 2024.
