The visitors took an early lead in the 6th minute when Luis Suarez intercepted a pass back from Jack McGlynn and found his teammate Telasco Segovia open in the box. It was a slow start for Houston and the visitors took advantage of that. Suarez sent a lobbed ball to Tadeo Allende to start his run, leading to his left-footed shot and the match's second goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately for the Dynamo, Miami would score their third goal of the half in stoppage time. Artur would be dispossessed and on the counter, Segovia would earn a brace.
During the half, Ethan Bartlow would sub for Erik Sviatchenko.
Ten minutes into the half, Ben Olsen would make a double substitution. Daniel Steres and Nicolas Lodeiro would come on for Franco Escobar and Ibrahim Aliyu. Despite the changes, the Dynamo struggled to create offensive opportunities. Erik Dueñas replaced Amine Bassi in the 76th minute. A couple minutes later, Luis Suarez would get a goal for Miami to complete his four goal contribution game. Gabe Segal would come on for Ezequiel Ponce in the 82nd minute. Three minutes later the Dynamo spoiled the clean sheet as Dueñas sent a ball to Lodeiro and his shot was powerful enough to find the back of the net but it was too little too late.
The Men in Orange will now travel for the first time this season and take on an unbeaten Columbus side.
